Job Description
Public Services (50%)
• Develops and manages activities in promoting, marketing, and enhancing access to library resources and services.
• Develops and implement outreach programs that engage library user communities at Stanford and beyond.
• Manages public spaces (lecture, seminar, and group-study rooms) in the library facility.
• Works with other departments in the Stanford Libraries system and various academic units on Stanford campus to organize public events in the East Asia Library.
• Organizes exhibits in the East Asia Library.
• Maintains and updates the website and social media sites of the East Asia library.

Bibliographer for East Asian Studies (40%)
• Develops the collection of European-languages materials on East Asia, and manages related book funds.
• Develops the collection of European-languages materials on Southeast Asia, and manages related book funds.
• Provides reference services to the faculty and students in East Asian and Southeast Asian studies, especially those with questions concerning European-languages materials. Creates and maintains online resource guides for relevant collections.
• Collaborates with bibliographers at Green Library in collection development, reference services, and the management of library stacks.

Other duties assigned (10%)

Required Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in East Asian studies with at least one year of working experience in an academic library, or MLIS degree with strong academic background in East Asian studies.
• Working knowledge of one East Asian language and one European language other than English (French or German preferred).
• Familiarity with East Asian studies resources and literature. Demonstrated excellence in using library catalogs and digital scholarly resources.
• Knowledge and skills in using computer systems and software needed for performing library job duties.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms, and to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

Logos Evangelical Seminary: Assistant Librarian

General Description
An Assistant librarian will manage most of tasks in technical services and provide information services in library with head librarian. The general responsibilities include the acquisition, cataloging, storage, maintenance, preservation, access and record keeping for books (electronic and print), periodicals (electronic and print), electronic serials, e-books, databases, and other electronic resources. 

Major Duties/ Responsibilities include but not limited to the following
1.    Perform original and copy cataloging of library materials.
2.    Oversee local integrated library system.
3.    Involve in acquisition process.
4.    Develop and maintain library websites as well as social media.
5.    Assist Librarian establishing and executing policies and procedures.

Qualification Requirements
Education: MLS degree with ALA accredited and MACS is preferred.
Experience: Working experience as an academic librarian.
Skill: Demonstrated effectiveness at providing research assistance.
Proficiency in MS office with both English and Chinese word processing; excellent   interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of AACR2, LCC LCSH, OCLC, MARC format and CJK cataloging Knowledge of academic publications will be helpful. 
Other Requirements: Willing to work in details; must be fluent in Chinese and English speaking, reading, writing, and typing; the work schedule for this position will involve evenings and/or weekends.

Sarasota, FL: Temporary Chinese Cataloger



Immediate opening
Backstage Library works is looking for a temporary Chinese cataloger to work onsite at a library in Sarasota, Florida. The project is expected to last 5-6 weeks with full-time hours beginning April 25th (the start date may be negotiable). If not local to the Sarasota area, all expenses, including room and board, will be provided.
Pay starts at $16.00/hr.

Job description
Library cataloging, including LC classification and subject headings for ~500 monographs in Chinese and English languages. Copy cataloging will be from WorldCat in the OCLC WMS system with original cataloging if no copy is found, plus holdings. Non-Roman item original cataloging includes transliteration and script.  Physical processing includes handling items, attaching barcodes, printing spine labels and label attachment.

Requirements
·         Must accurately type 50+ wpm
·         Ability to work productively and intelligently with minimal supervision
·         Attentiveness to detail
·         Strong organizational skills
·         Knowledge of cataloging standards including RDA, AACR2, ISBD, MARC21, LC classification, LCSH and LC Chinese transliteration
·         Experience searching WorldCat – training on OCLC WMS will be provided
·         Must pass a background check and drug test
