Ohio State University: East Asian Studies Program Assistant; Japanese Cataloger; Korean Cataloger

The Ohio State University Libraries is currently seeking applications for an East Asian Studies Program Assistant, a Japanese Cataloger and a part time Korean Cataloger within our Area Studies Department and Cataloging Department.

The Libraries’ East Asian Area Studies unit furthers academic research about and engagement with East Asia throughout the university by assisting in building the collection and engaging scholars.  For information please visit: http://library.osu.edu/find/subjects/area-studies/

The Cataloging Department provides and maintains access to the collections through cataloging duties, providing support in the areas of catalog maintenance as well as authority control. For information please visit: http://library.osu.edu/staff/cataloging/ .

East Asian Studies Program Assistant
The East Asian Studies Program Assistant assists in the selection, management and use of distinctive collections by coordinating and implementing activities such as acquisitions, cataloging, searching, reference, outreach and access support at high levels of complexity and responsibility. Target Hiring Range: $13.25-$16.15/hour. Posting Number: 374616.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; knowledge of East Asia is required; proficiency with computers and standard office programs; fluency (reading, writing and speaking) in English and Korean, including familiarity with hanja (Chinese characters). 

Japanese Cataloger
The Japanese Cataloger is responsible for cataloging materials, primarily in Japanese, in various formats using national, international and OSU rules and standards. Target Hiring Range: $12.91-$15.50/hour. Posting Number:  374635.
Minimum Qualifications: Per Classified Civil Service Specs or equivalent education/experience; proficiency in reading and writing Japanese language;

Korean Cataloger
The Korean Cataloger is responsible for cataloging materials, primarily in Korean, in various formats using national, international and OSU rules and standards. This is a part-time 20 hr/week position. Target Hiring Range: $12.91-$15.50/hour. Posting Number:  374656.
Minimum Qualifications: Per Classified Civil Service Specs or equivalent education/experience; proficiency in reading and writing Korean language
