Team Leader for Non-Latin Cataloging

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides leadership to catalogers performing cataloging for resources in languages that do not use the Latin alphabet. Coordinates matters of cataloging policy and practice for non-Latin cataloging in all formats. Represents the Library in policy discussions and deliberations related to non-Latin language cataloging at the regional and national level. Maintain policies on non-Latin language cataloging. Manages East Asian cataloging performing high-level original and complex copy cataloging of print and electronic materials in East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) according to international standards focusing on Chinese materials in all formats. Supplies LC Subject Headings and call numbers; verifies all types of access points in catalog records and edits to conform to authorized forms and creates original authority records. Provides training and timely feedback to supervisees and conducts annual performance appraisals. Develops local workflow procedures as appropriate. Contributes to the advancement of the Libraries’ mission through service on local and national committees, and continuing professional development, including, but not limited to, conference attendance, presentations and publications. Reports to the Head, Collection Services.
